Eichinger Heiligenstein Riesling 2021

The imposing Heiligenstein vineyard in Kamptal is possibly Austria’s most famous site for Riesling and is responsible for a disproportionate number of the bottles in my wine rack. This is a stunning example from Birgit Eichinger and up there with the world’s great dry Rieslings.

Though very young it’s already drinking beautifully with a bit of oxygen and delivers a dense and multi-layered palate of citrus fruit, vineyard peach and beeswax with a lovely mineral edge.
