Central and Eastern European wine tasting

Central and Eastern European wine tasting

We're pretty lucky in the variety of different wines we have available to drink in the UK but there are definitely a few notable gaps. Looking across central and eastern Europe there are lots of countries with unique and interesting wine traditions going back centuries from which we see almost nothing. Even in specialist wine shops there's a good chance you'll either find nothing or just a couple of examples from the biggest, most commercial wineries.

As of the day I'm writing this blog we're not in a much better spot, there's a few interesting examples but on the whole it's a pretty poor showing. Fortunately, by the time most of you read this, that should all change. We’re expecting an imminent delivery with 10 new wines from Bulgaria, Slovenia and Hungary all from small, artisanal, quality-driven producers. They're all tasting fantastic and so to give you all a chance to try some we're going to run a central and eastern European wine tasting on Sunday the 31st of August at Argonaut books.

The tickets are £30 per person and are available HERE or over the counter in both shops. As usual this includes 7 glasses of wine, lots of chat, truly feeble attempts at pronouncing Bulgarian, and some light nibbles.
See you there !
